Maleficent – mistress of evil is the sequel to the 2014 film Maleficent, about the dark fairy Maleficent. The genre is fantasy, and it was released in 2019, just now. It was directed by Joachim Rønning, written by Linda Woolverton, Micah Fitzenman-Blue, and Noah Harpster. It also stars Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, like in the past film. Elle Fanning plays Aurora, and Queen Ingris is played by Michelle Pfeiffer.

The setting is in a magical kingdom called the Moors, home to the the mythical creatures. Maleficent – the main character – was the former ruler, which later gave up her thrown for Aurora to rule. Maleficent was a fairy like no other, she has magic powers, powers that stand out in nature. Aurora, is the baby she cursed to sleep forever, and later on broke the curse herself, with true love. She considers Aurora her own daughter, and raised her in the Moors

In the first part of the film, we can see Aurora as the queen of the moors. Prince Phillip – her love – has proposed to her, but Maleficent is against their engagement. While try proving that Maleficent is wrong, the queen angered her, making her return to nature. While doing that, she found her kind – the dark fairies, and united with them, fighting against the queen for a better world – a world where they get accepted. In the end, they are victorious, and Maleficent has a change of heart. Aurora and Phillip finally get married, and lived happily ever after.

Angelina Jolie did a great job acting as Maleficent even through the changes of her personality. Caring Maleficent, cold Maleficent, angry Maleficent… she did a great job in all. Elle Fanning did a wonderful job as Aurora, naïve, pure and caring. Queen Ingris – the “bad-guy” in this film was a hard role to play, but Michelle Pfeiffer really pulled it off!

The script is very well written, so I would give complements to the screenwriters. The final battle was amazing, as Maleficent unleashes her true power, and the effects were just mind blowing. Their costumes were amazing, and the make-up they game Maleficent really says “dark fairy” all over it. There is not much sound track, so I would love it if they added more music. But overall, I think that this movie is very worth seeing
